Northstar Meetings Group is currently seeking a full-time editor to guide social media execution that aligns content into a dynamic digital experience and increases the profile of Northstar’s brands within the meetings industry. The editor will also be responsible for creating Meeting News, a daily e-newsletter for the travel and meetings industries. Other job duties include representing the brand at industry and internal events as well as producing content for Northstar’s websites and print magazines.
This position is based in our office in New York City, just a block away from Penn Station.
Manage Northstar’s social media channels (on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram); promote stories and brand initiatives while engaging with our audience, with an eye towards community creation
Curate and edit content for inclusion in e-newsletters for grammar, style and tone for a particular audience
Use online publishing tools to create e-newsletters and a weekly animated research video; post stories to our websites
Monitor website and e-newsletter traffic using Parsl.ey and ExactTarget
Respond to reader comments and suggestions
Attend approximately 2-3 domestic/international industry events annually
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum three years of experience in a communications, social media or research role with a news organization, consulting firm, trade association or other relevant group
Ability to engage social media audiences across various platforms
4-year college degree required
Must enjoy shaping content, setting editorial tone and be deadline-driven
Proven writing and editing skills
Possess an understanding of what is newsworthy for the hospitality/meetings industry
Proven record of taking initiative, sharing responsibilities and managing multiple projects simultaneously
Video shooting/editing and social media skills a plus
